Some colors light you up while others completely wash you out. It is not just luck, it is your undertone.
Objective
Learn the core concept of skin undertones and use three easy at-home tests to find your perfect color palette.
Stage 1
Your surface skin color changes with the seasons, but your underlying tone never does. You fall into one of three categories: Cool, Warm, or Neutral. Let's do three quick tests right now to find out exactly which one you are.
Stage 2
Go to a window and look closely at the veins on the inside of your wrist. If your veins look mostly blue or purplish, you have Cool undertones. If they look green or olive, you have Warm undertones.
Stage 3
Grab one piece of silver jewelry and one piece of gold. Hold them up against your bare face one by one in the mirror. Silver will make Cool undertones look bright and clear, while Gold makes Warm undertones look healthy and radiant.
Stage 4
Find a pure white piece of clothing and an off-white or cream piece. Hold them directly under your chin. If pure white makes your face glow, you are Cool; if cream makes you look vibrant and alive, you are Warm.
Stage 5
Tally up your results to reveal your dominant undertone. Cool undertones look best in jewel tones like emerald, sapphire, and crisp blues. Warm undertones shine in earth tones like mustard, rust, olive green, and warm browns.
